Get a nutrition lift with WICYou're invited to see if you are eligible for services through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Who is eligible? Women or teens who are pregnant, infants, women or teens who are breastfeeding, children up to age five, and women or teens who have had a baby less than six months ago. To be eligible, you must first meet income guidelines, then meet nutritional or medical guidelines. What is WIC? How do I find out if I qualify? Call the Vernon County Health Department for an appointment. At this appointment, you will receive a health and nutritional screening and nutrition information. If you are eligible, you will be given vouchers for nutritious foods that can be redeemed at any participating grocery store or supermarket. In Vernon County, call 417-667-7418 for information. In Missouri, call 1-800-392-8209 to find out where and how to qualify for the WIC program. Standards for participation in the WIC Program are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
